Endless snow and ice...
even the occasional ice cream splurge.
It has been SO cold that past week or so.
On average the temperature has been about -30c.
Ice even had the audacity to form on the inside of my window in
HUGE chunks.
We spent all last night putting sealant on our windows
because our apartment has been an ice box.
All this cold makes me day dream of summer...
Screen doors slamming, cicadas chirping...

On Saturday Andrew and I went to an ice
sculpture festival called "Ice on Whyte."
(Whyte is a famous street in Edmonton)

We rode the 1912 trolley, drank hot chocolate, and
slid down ice slides! It was also the first big snow of the year,
which is very abnormal.
We ended the night at Remedy with some amazing chai.
(This picture is not edited, the sky was actually red that night)

There has been a lot of uproar around Facebook about the video that I have posted prior. If anything, I am glad people are beginning to notice how radical the name of Jesus is. But perhaps we should stop debating about videos such as these saying that “Jesus loves religion, man has just polluted what this really is” and start trying to prove to the world what religion (for lack of a better word) really is.

Why is it that our society is so out-spoken? We love to debate every little thing. But debating will never change anyone’s mind, if anything it just makes people more upset. There was a shout out on a friend’s Facebook today “True Christians, don’t believe this!” (in response to the video) Well let me say:

True Christians, be living proof of Jesus. There is nothing more we are called to than to BE JESUS in this world. Die to these arguments and go show people what true religion in the eyes of Jesus actually is.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” -James 1:27

So let’s go.

I had the privilege of hanging out with some people
who know my story, better than any, tonight.
It is amazing what a journey God has all sent us on
and how we have remained friends through hard times
and in times of separation.

I can not express my love and gratitude for these
ladies. Many of us found Christ together.
May He be with us on all our separate paths
and may He unite us with His love and grace.

What a whirl wind of a night.
I find it hard to sum up everything that happened in words.
Here is my attempt:

We arrive at the Flaming Lips concert with a mission--
two of my friends had sought out connections to give us the once
in a life time chance to dance on stage with the Flaming Lips.
We find our connection and are psyched to find that she has indeed
provided what we were hoping for. Three all access dancer
passes. If you have not seen the Flaming Lips you should be warned
that every year they have people dancing on the sides of the stage to help
get the audience pumped up or just to make it even more
of a trip. Basically a chance to make a fool out of yourself with
some great dance moves on stage. Of course we want in.

After Yoko Ono preforms it is our time to shine.
(also note that Ranya hugged Yoko.)
We are herded back stage with about 10 other people where we
signed wavers and put on costumes-- this year's theme: Wizard of Oz.
Finally we are given ear plugs and shoved out on stage
where we danced for three hours straight and bonded with the highly
intoxicated people we were dancing with.

I have video and pictures but some how those will never suffice.
I have seen and captured with my own eyes a night I will
remember my entire life. One of those nights you will look
back on and say "oh to be young and spontaneous again.."
I will never forget dancing to this song with mass
amounts of confetti being blown into the air.

A perfect way to bring in the new year.
With great friends and wonderful memories.

After the show was over we were invited to two after parties where
we got in free because of our magic dancer passes.
We also got free shirts because the magic passes,
which we ended up getting autographed personally by
our new friend Wayne.
We ended up chatting a lot with him (the lead singer).
The night was mind blowing.
And let me not leave out the secret after after party
and how only the in-crowd knew to follow the stars on the sidewalk
from a decoy building into an alley where the real venue was
located.

Ranya, Jillian, and I are still in disbelief.
People at the after parties recognized us as the stage
dancers and started asking us things like we knew what
was going on. Yeah right.

Needless to say, we felt pretty cool all night long.
A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.
