It is so cold today. My feetsies are frozen. I am drinking tea listening to my favorite band.. This sounds perfect.. Except I am doing homework.. Which ruins the goodness of the tea and good jams.
This weekend was the BEST!
After my Thursday french conference Alex Harshaw came to pick me up from SLC and drove me to her house in Jersey! I was welcomed by her big amazing family! All Thursday and Friday were lazy days that consisted of playing Mario Kart with Joshua, Aaron and Sean (her amazing little brothers), watching movies and going to some fun places around her town in Jersey!
This is a famous ice cream place in Jersey we went to that is supposedly the Jonas Brothers favorite (so Alex tells me..).
We went to a fun amish market with lots of candy and furniture!
It was so much fun to get to spend time with an amazing family of God and to finally get some peace and quiet and time with people I know well. It was so fun to hang out with the family and to be taken care of.
Saturday morning we packed up and drove ourselves to DC to visit Michelle Millben!
This is us getting ready to leave Jersey for Alex's first road trip without the rents!
It was a great day in Jersey.. Little did we know that is was raining in DC.
The first time in a month I had driven.. And still it was safer than Alex driving.. hahaha.
We only managed to get signs of three places but we drove through four states in 2 and a half hours!
When we got there we met up with Michelle and her wonderful boyfriend who gave us our own personal tour of DC in his car.. because it was raining.. Complete with trivia questions and random facts.
This picture is kind of dark because we had to use the stinkin' flash. There will be more pictures of us and Michelle to come, she just has to upload them on Facebook first.
That night we tried to hit up Obama's favorite burger joint but it was way too packed so we went to this great Italian restaurant instead which was amazing. After that we went to this AMAZING ice cream shop in Georgetown that had like 100 flavors of ice cream and they were all amazing. It is called Thomas Sweet.. SO GREAT!
(Obama's favorite burger joint)
We had a great sleep over at Michelle's that night and caught up on life. I love Michelle and Alex so much. They are so encouraging and amazing women.
The next morning we went to Michelle's church in Alexandria. It was a straight up "Black Church" and I loved every two hours and fifteen minutes of it!
AMAZING HOUSES IN ALEXANDRIA!
The next morning we headed back to Jersey after church and an amazing time in DC!
I missed you Starbucks. I am so overjoyed the pumpkin spice latte is here!! REAL FALL!
A nice driving picture I was unaware of being taken.
It was such a lovely weekend with amazing people. Thank you to Michelle, Earnest and the Harshaws for an AMAZING weekend. I love you guys.
I took this polaroid for a friend. It is the tree outside my window.
The first signs of fall...
My favorite season is finally here.
Happy weekend! I am going to the Harshaw's for three days and to DC to visit Michelle Millben!
Yesterday I went to church with the Christian Union at SLC. We loaded a van of about 15 people and drove in to New York City, we went to a church called Trinity Grace. The church was held in the auditorium of a school in uptown Manhattan. The service was decent, but it is hard not to compare it to Journey. We sang one song I actually knew and the pastor had an Australian accent which were both a plus. After the service they invited all the college students returning for the fall to a luncheon. We walked a few blocks along with like 30 other kids to this NYC apartment. Evidently they were only expecting 15 students but the Lord multiplied and sent tons. We were all crammed in the small NY apartment awkwardly meeting everyone. I met some really cool people from Columbia and NYU as well as getting to know people in my own SLC group. After all the yummy food they bought us cupcakes! They were so yummy!
Also a highlight of my trip along with making some new good friends, I met a girl who lived in Mozambique for 8 years and she knew everything about Iris Ministries and the Zimpeto center. She said her church did things with Iris! I was so excited and amazed at how God brings his people together at the oddest times and places.
It was so nice to be in someone's home with a bunch of loving great people. I thank God for the potential community that is going to be here at SLC.
Today Nour and I caught the Met van to the city at 11 am. The Met van is a van from our school that takes kids and drops them off in front of the Met on weekends for free! It was so packed today we were lucky that we were the first ones there (the bus is first come first serve).
Here are some pictures of the Met.
This is my favorite building by the Met, I want to live here...
After the Met we went to Time Square because we had to drop Nour's sax off to get fixed at a little instrument repair shop. After that we went inide Toys R Us.. It blew my mind, they have so many cool likes.
Like a ferris wheel!
And a giant dino that moved and made noise.
And a lot of lego people and a giant Barbie house!!
After that we made our way to Columbus Circle. We went to Whole Foods and got a massive amount of food for lunch and then we walked around the park and found a spot to sit and eat.
Nour and I in Central Park.
We walked around the park for a really long time and laid in the sun. It was so nice outside today, it was a great day for Central Park. I love this park.
Next we went to FAO Schwarz! It was also amazing! It had a whole Harry Potter section!
I had to take a picture of these Egyptian legos for my dad!
The giant keyboard from Big!
Norbert from Harry Potter!
Gryffindor's sword! 200 dollars...
We saw a wedding going on at the plaza!
Then Nour stayed in the city to get her sax and I took the metro to the Met and took the van home!
It was such a great day!
