Yesterday I went to Manhattan with a group touring the gay and lesbian sites in NYC!

100_0870Then I took the Metro all by myself to meet Katie for a show! This is us standing in line at TKTS getting tickets for a show!

100_0873And of course we had to get ice cream for dinner...

100_0875

100_0876100_0877... and cheese cake after the show.

We saw the Fantasticks... It was decent but not AMAZING. We were a little disappointed. And the theater was like trying to keep us from falling asleep by freezing us all out. I was so miserable. But good times all around! And I took the Metro all by myself around the city! And went home on the train alone! Yay for being a big girl!

This morning I had my first French class! It is going to be SO much work, but so far it is fun and I have already finished my hour long homework for today! I have a lecture class today at 3:30 that should be fun!

And I have to mention how jealous of Nour I am that she got a free ticket to the US Open in Manhattan. Jerk.

The drag show by the Kinsey Sicks was auhh mazing. They sang like a barber shop quartet and were SO funny.

100_0835I am posting this photo for Kaitie Holland.

Today I had to re interview for classes because I was bumped out of Anthropology, it was a stressful day of picking second choices..

Tonight we are watching a singing group of drag queens... Which should make me feel better.

I miss you.

I took tons of pictures today only to find that I had not put my memory card back inside the camera so it was using internal memory... Therefore I have no way to transfer the photos on to my computer... Sad sad day.

This morning we all woke up really late and went to Bates. Bates is our dining hall that has just been re-done and newly opened. It is totally remodeled and has tons of different kinds of food including "home style", "vegan", "pasta" etc. And last but not least A WAFFLE BAR! The kind where you pour your own batter in the waffle maker and it comes our fluffy and amazing (and of course they provide amazing toppings..)... AND an ice cream bar... with limitless ice cream options, not to mention all you can eat. Needless to say... BRING ON THE FRESHMAN FIFTEEN.

My RA told us that all the upper classmen were joking about how this Freshman class will be the first to gain the freshman 15 at Sarah Lawrence... Uh oh.

Today they had a vendor fair on Westlands South that consisted of a lot of awesome posters, vintage clothes and jewelry for sale. I would proudly like to tell you all (especially the parental units) that I completely contained myself and did not buy a single thing even though everything was pretty much awesome!

Mean while on Westlands North they had a "NYC Street fair" which was a bunch of cool bands from SLC, a rock wall and bungee jumping things and free food. It was a lot of fun! We hung out all day there!

Now I am in my room waiting for my first load of college laundry to be done!

Tonight is the long awaited Sarah Lawrence tradition of watching The Princess Bride outside on the lawn!

Last night Nour, Elizabeth and I went in to Manhattan spontaneously.

Nour had the brilliant idea of going to eat at the life cafe where a scene in the Broadway hit RENT took place! We took the subway to Union square and walked to alphabet city from there.

On the way we stopped at Strands famous bookstore! They have 18 miles of books.

After the Life Cafe we got ice cream! Katie took the R home and we went to midtown. We met some of Nour's friends at the apple store and walked up and down 5th Ave trying to find somewhere to get tea.

Nour: "It smells like pickeled ginger."

Me: "Oh that guy is mopping the sidewalk..."

(They mop the sidewalk here?)

100_0833Some nice jazz in the subway on the way home.

Finally we gave up and got on the Metro North to head back to Bronxville where a shuttle picked us up from the train station. We came back to our house and drank tea.

Yesterday the interview process started. And I just handed in my form for registration! Woosh, it is over... Unless I get bumped from my first choice, which is pretty likely.

We had a nice day of interviewing, lounging in the lawn, exploring the "haunted" Tweed house, crazy techno raves and swinging late at night on Westlands North.

Some of our girls in the house decided we should go soak up the sun on our giant back lawn.

(These photos are a result of that)

100_0801Nour and I decided it would be cool if we ate the utensils since they were biodegradable/made out of potatoes?

Things are going so great here!

Ps, we are thinking of seeing a Regina Spektor concert in Manhattan. Be jealous.

Yoko Ono lived in my very room.

Last night we watched Cruel Intentions out on the lawn of Westlands.

I start my interviews today, but for now I am drinking a cup of tea watching a guy mow out of my bay window.

After a long journey with computer trouble and moving in and tons of events I have been so busy. Not to mention I just got internet literally 10 minutes ago and I am sorry I have not been posting!

I officially live in Lynd House.

100_0775My bed!

100_0788Orientation tent!

Everyone in the house is amazing and we have already grown to be close friends.

I have been doing a lot with orientation including movies nights and dance parties. Last night we all watched Nick and Norah's infinanate playlist since it took place in Manhattan.

Today we started interviewing professors for what classes we are interested in taking. The process is so neat!

I had my first FYS (First year studies class) yesterday and cannot wait for it to start. My don (professor/mentor) is a beast. he is a really cool big black guy. Last night some new friends (Glenna and Emily) and I walked around signing up for interviews on the professor's office doors. It was quite an adventure!

Last night was also midnight breakfast, something they do during confrence week as an SLC tradition but they did during orientation just for kicks!

I have met so many cool people and I really do feel so at home here. Everyone exceeds my expectations in their friendlyness and openness. I absolutely love it here. I cannot even put in to word how crazy this place is. It is a perfect fit and I cannot wait to keep exploring and learning. I thank God for this opportunity and just the unconditional love he provides me with.

I am about to be out the door to walk down to Bronxville with some friends to buy groceries!
